Life Insurance VS A Retirement Policy

By Graham McKenzie

Many people have insufficient retirement packages through their employer and will not be offered any financial security in their retirement age. There are also many people who have no retirement packages and will be living solely on social security benefits. Social security offers very little security and most people forced to live off of it are finding it difficult to even keep their homes let alone pay for health care and enjoy their retirement.

Many people believe that a life insurance policy is only to be paid out in the event of the policy holders death. The truth is that many people use life insurance policies as a way to protect their financial well being during their old age. The life insurance policy is able to be funded from many resources, such as stocks and bonds, certificates of deposit, mutual funds and even cash reserves from your bank account. This money can then be withdrawn at retirement age tax free.

It is important to have a policy that pays your loved ones in the event of your death, but what about while you are living? The benefit to the life insurance policies that offer retirement packages is that you are able to receive payments from the policy that will not be counted as income from the government. The policies are designed to pay an income for a certain time frame or they can be customized to pay you until you pass away.

Retirement benefits can be utilized in many ways with the life insurance policies. You can borrow from cash values or have a payment plan designed to meet your needs. In both instances there will be certain pros and cons.

Money that is accumulated in the policy that offers retirement benefits is available for you or withdraw without suffering any penalties or taxes. A standard retirement package such as IRA benefits allows you to withdraw the money to but you suffer penalties for early withdraw as well as income tax on all finds you receive from the account. The insurance policy making payments to you that are tax free after you retire is a huge advantage it has over the standard retirement benefit package.

Some people use borrowing money from their retirement policy as a way to avoid income taxes but this can create big problems later down the road. If the cash amount borrowed reaches the policy amount then the policy holder is hit with capital gains tax on all amounts paid in excess of the premiums, this can be a hard thing to recover from for someone who has been paying in to the policy for 40+ years. At your retirement age you are struggling to pay for estate tax and cover the costs of your health care, a huge tax bill could cause you to lose everything you own.

You may have been shown a great retirement package from the agent you bought the policy from and then find out when you retire it is less than what it should have been. The rates change and if you had a great rate at the time of purchase and they have since fell you will not have the benefits you once though. With a standard retirement package you may be able to have more security in knowing what your benefits will be but they will be taxable and you have less chance to increase them over time. With the insurance policy you can add as much cash to your policy as you wish and you will never be taxed on your payments after retirement but you do have a slightly larger risk involved with your money.

Student Loan Consolidation Basics

By Michael Fleischner

For anyone attending an online or traditional institution, paying back college loans is an area of concern. There are a number of options for paying back your college debt and student loan consolidation is one of the best. With a variety of loans, all with different interest rates, loan consolidation is a great way to lower your payments and simplify the process.

Loan consolidation is the process of reducing your many loans from different lenders and issuing a single loan from a new provider. There are significant benefits in loan consolidation, resulting in lower monthly payments and much less paperwork.

With loan consolidation you use a single lender. The best part of the repayment process is that you only have one monthly payment to take care of. Consolidated loans also have a number of payments options to choose from. Research your options and decide which option works best for you.

Loan consolidation repayment options include a variety of repayment types. Standard repayment is where you make a fixed payment each month for up to ten years. If the monthly amount is too much, you can always extend your payment for a longer time period, usually for up to 30 years. The last available option is a graduated repayment schedule. This requires a higher payment each year of repayment.

With selecting the graduated repayment option, your payments are made over an extended period. Keep in mind however that payments are not the same over the life of the loan. Every couple of years your payment amount increases. This graduated payment schedule is right for individuals who need the lowest payment amount when repaying their loans.

Once a loan is consolidated, your interest rate is fixed. This is true except when using the graduated repayment option. This means you are expected to make your payment each month. This is important when you are repaying a consolidated loan. By not repaying your loan in a timely manner you can damage your credit score.

One way to ensure that you make your payments is by coordinating your payment options with your lender. Today, with the help of direct deposit and withdrawal, your best bet is to have your payment taken automatically from your paycheck or account each month. The sooner you do this, the easier it will be to make your monthly payments.

When you begin repaying your student loans, consider loan consolidation. Student loan consolidation simplifies the repayment process and gives you flexible repayment options. Consider a budget that allows you to make your payments in a timely manner. More importantly, find a reputable lender who can work with you as you enter the workforce and seek to pay your debt.

Increasing Online Traffic with Forums

By Theo McLanahan

If you are familiar with the Internet and websites, you are probably familiar with message boards and forums. These online communities allow people to connect, share stories, ask questions, offer information, and build relationships. By participating in these forums you can network with other Internet Marketers, communicate with potential customers and increase the amount of traffic that is visiting your website.

Most forums allow you to add a signature line to your profile. You can choose to add your name, a logo or catchphrase that describes your business and a link to your website. Your signature line will be added to each of your posts, and as people read them, they may be curious about your business and visit your site.

Forums are definitely an excellent place online to form relationships, but it does not happen immediately. You need to gain some credibility. To do so, post a greeting message with some information about yourself when you first join a forum. Also, be sure not to over advertise your website, since forums are often abused by spammers whose messages are deleted by moderators.

When you answer the questions that people have in a helpful and genuine way, they will eventually trust your advice and see you as an expert on the topic at hand.

The links you use do not all have to go to your homepage; you might link forum readers to your newsletter opt-in page. Having more newsletter readers will help boost traffic to your site, especially when you include links to new articles you have posted to the website in your newsletter.

Whenever you feature a special offer like an e-course or a discount on a certain product, let forum members know by posting about it. They will want to know so that they can take advantage of such special offers.

Since word of mouth advertising is an extremely good way to build up your business, do not be afraid to ask your friends on the forums to refer you to others. Doing so will make your business internationally known. Contacting other Internet Marketers on forums can also help you, as you may be able to get involved in some joint ventures.

Using forums to make new friendships, make others see you as an expert, and link readers back to your website will all help you increase the traffic to your site.

How To Get Your Dream Job Using A Killer Resume

By Colin P McDonald

The Selling Document

Once you have completed all of the preparation work in creating a presence on the internet - you have haven't you? - it is time to take a look at your most important selling document - the Resume.

Note: The selling document is known as a CV or curriculum vitae (that's Latin!) in the UK. It's the equivalent of a resume in the US. I'll talk about a resume in this article but all Brits please replace 'resume' with CV in your mind.

Resume Standard Format

All resumes must contain the following:

Your contact details

A summary of your credentials for the post called a personal profile

Your career objective.

Your education and continuous professional development.

Any professional affiliations.

Tools and technologies you have used. (IT candidates only)

There are a number of resume formats: functional, historical, functional/historical and a targeted format. The format chosen will depend on your targeted reader and the goals you wish to achieve.

Historical Resume

A functional format must be used when you plan to change industry sectors and job roles. Your transferable skills relevant to your career goal must be listed in detail. It is also ideal for a graduate seeking their first job who must list their personal activities and honours won to show that they have initiative and are pro-active in pursuing their career objectives.

A historical resume should contain the following additional sections:

A detailed summary of your relevant skills.

Your most interesting projects and relevant achievements in each of your job roles.

Functional Resume

A functional format should be used when you plan to change job roles and industry sectors. You must list in detail your transferable skills relevant to your intended new career. It is also the ideal format for a graduate seeking their first job who must list their personal activities and achievements to show initiative and a history of pursuing their career objective.

A functional resume should contain the following additional sections:

A historical format should be chosen when you plan to continue with your current career in the same industry sector. In this case your most recent experience will be the most relevant and should appear on the first page.

A history of your relevant employment experience is optional.

Activities and honours (graduates only).

A combo format should be used when you plan to change industry sectors, but remain in a similar position. Your key skills must appear on page one to showcase your transferable skills to the reader. A summary of your employment history must immediately follow the skills summary to show your relevant work experience.

A combo resume should contain the following additional sections:

A summary of your key skills.

A brief history of your employment experience in reverse chronological order.

Your most interesting projects and achievements in each of your job roles.

A targeted format should be used when you are applying to a recruiter for an advertised role. A relevant experience section listing your work experience matching the requirements specified in the job advertisement should appear on the first page immediately after the skills summary.

A targeted resume should contain the following additional section:

A summary of your relevant employment experience.

The resume is usually two to three pages long, but there are exceptions when it may be up to 4-5 pages long. For example, an IT contractor will have a lengthy list of contracts in their Employment History section that must be documented in detail with dates.

Now for some DOs and DON'Ts:

DO list each of your job roles within the employment history by writing a short summary using bullet points for each of your interesting projects and career successes.

DON'T simply list the tasks that you had to regularly complete in each role. Remember that you are a STAR! Describe the Situation, list the Tasks that you planned to do, describe your Actions taken in achieving your goals and list what the positive Results for the company were.

DO tailor your CV to a specific type of reader. Highlight all relevant experience (on page one if you can) and remove all unrelated experience to make room for more ways of selling yourself to the reader.

DON'T put your birth date on the resume. For those of us a little more experienced in life there is no need to highlight our age which some may perceive as a disadvantage.

In summary, the resume is your most vital selling document. You must first determine your career objective, and then select the appropriate resume format to match your goals. Don't forget to tailor each CV to the intended target reader. Successful resume writing!

A Spider's Web Advantage In Business Networking

By Julio Martinez

Business networking is a common phenomenon in the world of entrepreneurs. They are built for businesses to come together essentially to share business referrals and other business opportunities to one another in a more personal manner, in meetings they can have outside the circle.

A friend in college, after graduation, said that finally she feels the importance of belonging to a sorority. She said that in finding a job, she has it easier because her sorority sisters serve as her connections to companies they work in. Well, there is a concrete example of the perks one gets in being a part of a group aside from personally carrying your group's identity with you wherever you go. Of course, it would be better if your group actually has an established name. But that's another story.

Business networking is a common phenomenon in the world of entrepreneurs. They are built for businesses to come together essentially to share business referrals and other business opportunities to one another in a more personal manner, in meetings they can have outside the circle. Because of such networks, businesses can have strong connections with each other when the need to expand arises or when there seems to be trouble in achieving goals. Through this system entrepreneurs extend their help to each other and at the same time establish important relations that could help each member prosper. Being a part of business network group is also a cost-efficient way to gain support from the business community while having people back you up in the promotion of your products and services. Some businesses need other business' products and services, through networking businesses can find their best partners hence deals can be made without fuzz.

Since businesses have taken over the internet, so do business networking websites. Business networking sites are useful for any online business because through them business marketing or the facilitation of the sale of their products or services happen. It's like a social network for businesses where transactions in sale take place. Online are an array of websites a business could choose from and they offer different benefits and prizes for their members. However, the effectiveness of this system is one thing they have in common. There are also perks in joining business networking sites.

The internet comes into the picture as online businesses find it an effective medium to conduct transactions and gather clients. Because of the efficiency of this technological advancement, many have become entrepreneurs online. Where there are business-oriented individuals, there are also business networking groups which have their own websites. The greatest threat there is with online businesses is competition and such is doubled since the arena where business is conducted is a fast-paced environment. How efficiently one conducts business marketing which includes the endorsement of products and services and the actual selling is the foundation of a successful online business. But because of the threats in competition, it is not enough to have skill in business marketing. It is important to have an edge and this is what business networking offers especially online. Aside from securing you with effective business marketing online, entrepreneurs interested in joining networking groups also can receive perks as soon as they sign up in business networking sites.

Doing business whether it be in a small or large community, online or not is serious matter. Truly, there are benefits of joining a business networking group, just like joining an online social network, you get to know more people, exchange conversations and produce transactions. However, what is most important in being a member of any business networking group online is to know whether the services and the benefits offered really work.
